In 1877, the term “Law of Attraction” appeared in print for the first time in a book written by the Russian occultist Helena Blavatsky. The book was written in the context of the attractive power between elements of spirit.

What is The Law of Attraction?

The law of attraction is a universal principle that states “positive attracts positive”, and “negative attracts negative.” Hence, you attract into your life whatever it is that you focus on. It denotes that when you focus on the abundance of good things in your life, you will attract positive things into your life. But if you center yourself on negative thoughts and only focus on your worries, then you will attract negativity into your life.

This law focuses on the fact that “like attracts like.” Therefore, if you are feeling positive, you send positive energy to the universe. In turn, that positive energy will come back to you. It will attract positive people, resources, and opportunities. On the other hand, if you are sending out negative energy, that negative energy will also come back to you. So, it will repel positivity and attract pessimistic people and events into your life. 

Hence, we feel positive energy through happiness, passion, appreciation, optimism, and joy. At the same time, negative energy includes fear, sadness, anger, hatred, and pessimism.

Therefore, this law tells us to get what we want out of life by focusing our energies on the right things. This way, we can create our reality.

How to Apply the Law of Attraction

To apply the law of attraction, certain things must be looked into. The first thing is the condition of your heart. So, remove all negative emotions and replace them with positive ones. Although it may seem far-fetched or unrealistic, this law is authentic. So, here are certain key points to use in the application:

  1. Be grateful
  2. Visualize your goals
  3. Look at the bright side of every situation
  4. Do away with negative thinking
  5. Use positive affirmation to motivate yourself
  6. Reframe negative events in a  positive way

Even though the law of attraction might not be a quick fix for all of life’s problems, it can help you see things in a more positive light. Also, it can help you stay motivated to continue working toward your goals.

Law of Attraction Techniques

Some techniques can help you learn to put the law of attraction into practice in your own life. Some of them are:

Journaling: Writing down your thoughts can help you better recognize your thought patterns. Therefore, you get to see if you are habitually optimistic or pessimistic. Also, you will learn more about changing negative thought patterns.

Practice acceptance: Accept your present struggles, but don’t let them weigh you down. Instead, have a positive mindset and strive to do better. For example, instead of thinking, “I can’t believe I failed!” Tell yourself instead, “Yes, I failed, but I know I will do better”

Make a vision board: Create a visual reminder that helps you maintain a positive mindset, stay motivated, and focus on your goals. So, for daily motivation, you could get a board and stick sticky notes on it. For example, place a sticky note with a quote that says, “You always pass failure on your way to success” (Mickey Rooney). Or, “failure is not falling, but refusing to get up”—a Chinese proverb. Also, place your goals on the board as a daily reminder of what you want.

Practice positive self-talk. If you tend to be too hard on yourself, make it a goal to talk positively to yourself every day. Over time, this may come much more quickly, and you may find it harder to maintain a negative mindset.

The 7 Laws of Attraction

There are 7 universal laws of attraction.  These “mini-laws” affect how the world responds to you and the results you get in life. They are: 

#1. The Law of Manifestation

 The Law of Manifestation states that our thoughts and feelings create our reality. It denotes that what we focus on will manifest in our lives. 

#2. The Law of Magnetism

The Law of Magnetism states that everything that has happened in your life, as well as the circumstances in which you have found yourself, is a result of the energy you put out into the world. Therefore, you attract what you are. 

#3. The Law of Unwavering Desire

This Law states that your desire to achieve or attract a sure thing must be solid and unyielding to manifest in your life. So, when your passions are weak, they won’t be able to attract what you want. Now, ask yourself, “Do I truly desire what I believe I want?”

#4. The Law of Delicate Balance

The universe comprises a balance between forces and elements. Therefore, we also crave balance. So, when the different aspects of your life are in balance, you experience peace and joy. However, to achieve balance, appreciation and gratitude are required. 

#5. The Law of Harmony

The Law of Harmony refers to the coordinated interplay of forces and elements that make up the Universe. Therefore, harmony is the flow of life. So, when you are in line with harmony, everything seems easy. It feels like you are swimming with the current rather than against it. 

#6. The Law of Right Action

The Law of Right Action states that your words and actions affect the world around you. This goes further to determine the quality of your life experiences. In simple terms, how you behave and treat others will determine how others treat you. When you focus on the right action and are kind to others, you will attract more positivity into your life.  Hence, do to others what you want them to do to you.

#7. The Law of Universal Influence

Every single one of us is an integral part of the universe. That is because we impact the world with everything we do. Therefore, our energy vibrations and auras become a part of the universe. Because of this, we need to pay more attention to our thoughts, feelings, and actions. We should also be conscious of the signs from the universe. This way, we get to demonstrate the impact of our actions and follow the path we so desire. 

By doing so, our energies are effectively controlled. Also, there will be an increase in the positive impact we have on the world around us.
